I am a 17 year old girl, attending Sandvika High School in Bærum, Norway. The school focuses a lot on the use of digital implement while studying, so therefore a big part of our day is spent in front of a computer. Even so, a teacher is present at every lecture. The school has organized the days in so called “Lecture- Days” which basically means that each day contains one subject. This forces both the teachers and the students to be creative in their working habits, and how they plan their day. Personally, I think this model is working extraordinary. It gives each subject a better chance to deepen, and finish at the given task in class.
I think that this year of English would be a lot of hard work. Last year, I felt that my vocabulary widened, and I hope this development continues. What could possibly be more important in any language than a rich vocabulary? I also hope that we are able to widen our gazes and learn more about English speaking countries outside the European and North-American continent. America and Britain are both very interesting, don’t get me wrong! I just want to learn about countries like India, Australia, and New Zealand, just to mention a few. A thing I also look forward to is to get some new impulses in literature, and to read books by authors outside the Anglo-American area. Another thing that I would love to do, is to use the blog frequently. To summarize it all up, I expect a year of learning the English language, as well as learning about foreign cultures.

Hi, my name is Danica and I am a sixteen year old girl starting also starting my second or sophomore year of high school. My school is very unlike those of Norway. Everyday I have eight forty-five minute classes, except the fifth period is an hour and ten minutes with a built in twenty-five minute lunch.
ReplyDeleteI go to Alburnett High School in Alburnett, Iowa. We are very small, we have approximately 325 students in grades seven through twelve. The school sponsors sports such as volleyball, American football, cross country, cheerleading, boys and girls basketball, wrestling, track, softball, and baseball.
Hey, my name is Haley and im from the state of Iowa. I live in Robins but attend Alburnett schools about 10 miles from where I live. I'm a sophomore in high school and have a class size of about 50. Right now im writing this blog to learn more about Norways: school, culture, and business.
ReplyDeleteI find it interesting that you only attend one class per day. I dont think I would be able to focus on one subject that long. At alburnett we have 8 classes per day each for 45 minutes. My class schedule is as follows: 1.Spanish 2.Intro to Business(which is where I am typing this blog from.) 3.Biology 4.Health 5.Gym/Study Hall 6.English 7.Algebra Two 8.History. After school I play volleyball as an extracuricular activity. I also enjoy watching hockey.
Hi, my name is Adrienne. I attend Alburnett High School in Iowa. I'm 17 years old and this is my last year of high school. After high school I hope to go to college to study art. At my high school we attend eight classes a day. Each lasts 45 minutes and we get a 4 minute passing time between each class. It's a small high school with around 320 students. There are only about 46 students in my grade.
ReplyDeleteI have to make a blog for my Intro to Business class. It's going to be the first time I've ever made one and it seems like it's going to be fun.
Hi everyone!
ReplyDeletethank you for the interest you show for my blog. It is very interesting to read about how your day is. Some days the lectures are very tiresome to endure the whole day. An example is my day with mathmatics.
apart from this, I think that this solution is working very wel. Adrienne, can you post the link to your blog here, so I can read it too? that would be very interesting!
Sure! Here's the link:
